Our Journey

From Obsession to Artisanal Craft

What started as a hobby to clear a bit of space at home quickly transformed into a deep-seated professional pursuit. Driven by what I call my ADHD 'superpowers'—a focused force that demands an obsession with natural geometry—I create pieces that honor the raw state of timber. At Papa's Handcrafted Hardwood, we don't just cut wood; we reveal the stories hidden within live-edge slabs.

I prefer retaining as much of the natural flow of the wood as possible, utilizing resin to preserve unique characters that others might discard. While my passion for wood remains the foundation, this creativity has sparked a new inventory of handcrafted lights, wall art, and accent tables—sourced mostly from local partners like Ursa Timber and Black Forest Sawmill.

The Gallery Booth

You can find our live-edge furniture and handcrafted lights in my booth at the Ruckersville Gallery. My wife said I needed to get my hobby out of the house, so now it has a beautiful home where you can view it in person.

Sourcing Local Wood

Most of our wood is acquired from local experts at Ursa Timber, LLC. and Black Forest Sawmill. Occasionally, we source from neighbors who appreciate seeing their fallen timber transformed into heirloom art pieces.

Let's Craft Something Together

Whether you're visiting my booth at the Ruckersville Gallery or looking for a custom piece that celebrates the natural flow of live-edge wood, I'd love to hear from you. Every commission is an opportunity to obsess over the details of organic modernism.
